Summary

USP General Chapter <800> becomes official on December 1, 2019. Pharmacists and technicians need to prepare appropriately for implementation of these important standards for hazardous drug handling. This one-hour program covers the background that lead to creation of the chapter and offers key take-aways for an effective compliance plan.

Learning Objectives for Pharmacists and Technicians:
1) Describe the genesis of USP <800> Be able to describe its scope and the overlapping regulatory authorities who could enforce its standards.
2) Identify the key employee safety issues surrounding the handling of Hazardous Drugs (HDs) in Pharmacies.
3) Discuss the current regulatory environment with focus on the most common citations confronting compounders who handle HDs.
4) Be able to list ten (10) tangible take-aways for pharmacy owners (compounding supervisors) to add to their USP <800> compliance plan.
